Midterm Week

Hi Everyone,

So like the title implies, it’s midterm week; definitely not one of my top weeks in the school year.  It’s actually not too bad though because I only have one midterm out of my three classes.  Three classes, you might wonder… THAT’S IT?!

Well, here at Mercyhurst, we’re on the trimester schedule.  This means that we take fewer classes in a shorter period of time.  Instead of taking 5-6 classes in a 15 week semester like most colleges, we take 3 (or sometimes 4) classes in a 10 week period of time for three terms and get vacations in between each trimester.  The classes are a bit longer, but we still graduate in 4 years with the same amount of credits like a school on semesters.  It’s different, but I love trimesters; I love only having to manage 3 or 4 classes and if I absolutely hate a class, it’s nice knowing I only have to deal with it for 10 weeks rather than half a year.

So I’ve been pretty busy doing work and studying for my midterm and all that good stuff, but I have found time for some fun.  Yesterday was my friend’s birthday, so my roommate and I are planning to surprise him and bake him cupcakes.  A bunch of us are also planning a birthday party for him this weekend where we’re gonna just hang out but get cake, balloons, pizza, and snacks.  Also this weekend, the Student Activities Council (SAC) has some cool events on campus, like a coffeehouse singer on Friday and glow in the dark capture the flags on Saturday night.  SAC is really cool because it’s a group of students who are given money from the school to sponsor free weekend events every Friday and Saturday night.  It’s a great chance to hang out with friends, have some fun, and get a ton of free stuff all at the same time.  And college students LOVE free stuff!

That’s all I have to report for right now… be sure to check out a blog later this week where I’ll hopefully be able to let you all know how everything turned out.
