Christmas Break Catch Up

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I haven't blogged lately... I've been on Christmas vacation since Saturday and quite honestly haven't done much but sleep, work, do some shopping, and watch tv... basically just enjoying the time that I have home while I'm on vacation. HOWEVER, I'm heading off to visit my roommate in Florida in a few days for about a week, so I'm planning on having lots of pics and blogging material to talk about once I get back! It should be super fun to not only see her, but to hopefully also get my tan on.

Tonight's Christmas Eve and my family and I are going over to my best friend from highschool's house... my parents are real good friends with her parents and my friend actually has a brother who's a freshman in college like my brother so it all kind of works out.  And of course, tomorrow's Christmas Day, which consists of my family and I just hanging out, opening presents, and staying in our pajamas and relaxing all day since our family lives out of state. I'll have to get some packing for Florida done, but if that's the most demanding thing, I certainly can't complain =)

Happy Holidays Everyone!

We Clearly Don't Get Out That Much ;)

The girls and I all dressed up

Greetings from Erie, PA!

Soooooo, I just had another wonderful weekend, minus the massive amounts of homework that I'll need to do tomorrow in order to catch up since I didn't finish it, oops!

On Friday, my roommate Kylie and I went to Marshalls and the mall to go shopping/get last minute Christmas gifts for friends/ourselves ;) We both ended up doing pretty well, getting what we were looking for, for the most part, and having a great roomie bonding night.  After a busy night of shopping, we ended up going to Eat-n-Park, a PA chain restaurant, which tasted amazing b/c we were both so hungry... a few too many dollars later, we finally made it home exhausted and ready to go to bed.

Saturday was Christmas on Campus, which is a ton of fun.  It's this event that Mercyhurst does every year where underprivileged children in Erie get to come have a fun day of Christmas festivities, that a variety of Mercyhurst clubs and organizations run.  Each club/organization had a table where kids could do crafts or pick our gifts or what not and Santa and Mrs. Claus were there for pictures, so it's a great opportunity for us to get connected with our community.

I worked at the student government table, where kids got to pick out a gift for a family member, and then they got to decorate a bag to put the gift in.  I also worked at the fashion merchandising table, where kids got to make bracelets and necklaces and reindeer antler headbands.  After Christmas on Campus, I basically attempted to do homework for the rest of the day, but failed miserably, haha.

My friend Cassandra and I at the table
That brings me to Sunday... which was so much fun because tonight a bunch of my friends and I got all dressed up and went out to dinner for Christmas and then exchanged Secret Santa gifts.

Some of the boys all dressed up!
It was a group of about 20 of us, and everyone (even the guys!) were excited about getting dressed up and "being classy" for the night :) Tonight, I got a chicken ceasar salad and then chocolate pie, along with samplings from my friends of their desserts...a win-win for everyone!
After dinner, we all went back to my friends' apartment and we all sat in the living room and exchanged Secret Santa gifts, trying to guess who gave who gifts.  I gave my Secret Santa a Best Buy gift card and made him my famous brownies with red, green, and white sprinkles.

My Secret Santa, April (who's an Mercyhurst Ambassador like me!), gave me a great gift... a gift certificate to the nail salon =D Now the tough part is whether or not I want a manicure or a pedicure...

That's it for now, I should probably, err.. DEFINITELY get some work done!

One more school week until CHRISTMAS BREAK!! =) Sarah

Christmas Spirit

Hi Everyone!
ROOMIES <3

This is going to be a fairly quick blog entry because I have a ton of reading to catch up on (yep, already swamped with homework and it's only a week into the term!), but I felt the need to share with you all some Christmas spirit!

Not only is our campus notoriously known as "the best Christmas campus," but we do all sorts of fun Christmas stuff to distract us from school work, which is always appreciated by the student body =)

Frosting and LOTS of sprinkles!
Earlier this week, Egan (our cafeteria), had a Christmas Cookie Decorating Station" where there were all different types of cookies, frosting, and sprinkles for us to decorate cookies.  It was easily the highlight of my day...

Also tonight was the first of many ugly Christmas sweater parties that I get to go to... and yes, I said an "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party."
I couldn't take myself seriously when I looked in the mirror...

Let's just say I made a trip to the thrift store and bought glittery pants, an ugly Christmas sweater vest, a semi ugly, but not too horrible Christmas sweater and jewelry... all for under $10 dollars!

As a Fashion Merchandising major, I especially love being able to buy clothes inexpensively, come up with horrendously tacky outfits, and then wear them out in public, all while being socially acceptable...

The Ambassador Tree
Tonight was "Christgiving," the Ambassador Club's Christmas/Thanksgiving party.  We had all the Thanksgiving staples, plus ugly Christmas sweaters, so it was a lot of fun.

Time to take off the headband and turtleneck and change into some sweats so I can continue doing homework =(

Stay tuned for some more winter term fun!

Some of the Mercyhurst Ambassadors lookin' pretty fine... including some well-dressed Mercyhurst Bloggers! =)
